Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need a Doctor's Referral?

You do not need a doctor’s referral to access our services. At your initial assessment, the physiotherapist may ask you to go see your family physician if they deem it medically necessary.

How much does a visit cost?

We are happy to provide our rates over the phone. We charge flat fees based on 1 hour sessions and offer discounts for packages of multiple visits. We also offer a super hero discount for military/veterans! While our rates are set, we prefer to talk with new clients over the phone to gather preliminary information on what you are hoping to achieve with Elite Physio. This allows us to give you an idea of what your visits will look like and how many you may need to accomplish your goals. Because we are a cash-based practice there will never be any hidden fees or bills sent to you at anytime after your appointment.  We are proud to offer completely transparent billing!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Debit) and cash payments. Sorry, we do not accept personal checks.

Do you take my health insurance plan?

The simple answer is no, we do not. But many of our patients do get reimbursed by their insurance companies for visits with us! It depends on your insurance carrier, and if you’ve met your deductible. We are happy to help assist in checking your benefits to see what you can be potentially reimbursed for from your visit.

Why don't you take health insurance?

The current trends in health insurance mandate strict guidelines regarding what is considered "skilled physical therapy" for reimbursement. It has become very difficult to be reimbursed for the common ache/pain, sprain, etc; forcing many outpatient clinics to see a high hourly patient volume just to keep the doors open. This means that patients rarely see the same physical therapist twice and are often passed on to a physical therapy tech.

Cash-based practices are a premium price for premium results. Because we are not tied down to what the insurance company has approved, we have the freedom and flexibility to treat our patients' needs in the most meaningful way even if those needs change throughout the recovery process. We want to work for the patient, not the insurance companies. Additionally, working for our patients allows us to create rehab/performance programs that are designed to return pain-free function, with the least downtime. We are here to build meaningful relationships with our patients and their families.

How are you different from your competitors?

We have extensive knowledge in anatomy, advanced biomechanics, and clinical reasoning which is the foundation of a musculoskeletal diagnosis. Additionally, our assertive manual therapy style combined with the functional application of exercise will set you on the right path for recovery. You will always be 1-on-1 with the same specialist. We are transparent in our prices and guarantee you will never be surprised with a bill a few months later. Should there be a reason we cannot help with your specific needs we are happy to assist in sending you to a specialist who can help find the answers you seek.

What is Performance Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy?

Our physiotherapy services help bridge the gap between traditional rehabilitation and performance training (return to activity).  We also have extensive experience working with a broader performance team which includes: physicians, strength coaches, performance dietitians, and mental performance. This is especially important for athletes working to move from injury, to rehabilitation, and back onto the playing field.  By understanding both worlds, Elite Physio therapists can provide a more efficient plan, and safer return to field play.

What can I expect on my first visit?

When you come to Elite Physio we will always greet you with a welcoming smile. Our office is on the second floor of Workhorse Yoga & Fitness (the first door on the right). We prefer to schedule first time patients over the phone so we can perform a needs assessment and create a team approach for you. Future visits will be easy to schedule using our online portal. We'll have you fill out some basic customer information and health screening forms online prior to your initial visit. Don’t plan on getting too comfortable in the waiting area! Your appointment will begin on time and we'll hit the ground running talking through your needs and goals. You'll be surprised by how much we can accomplish in a one hour session! You will always be meeting one on one with a highly trained physiotherapist.

What is your cancellation policy?

We value your commitment to your recovery. We’d also like to be able to provide for those whom are seeking help. To help care for all our patients, we require 24 hours notice to cancel any appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Any loose fitting comfortable clothing will work (think shorts, tank tops, sweatpants or typical workout attire). There may be some circumstances where we ask you to remove articles of clothing for certain manual therapies but we assure adequate draping will be provided and we will always make sure you are comfortable.

Do I need to be a member at Workhorse Yoga & Fitness to be a client at Elite Physio?

No. We are located on the second floor of the Workhorse building, but our patients do not have to take classes there in order to participate in our physiotherapy services. Our location in the gym allows us to make use of the array of exercise equipment available (and the folks at Workhorse are pretty great, so we love sharing a space with them and highly recommend you check out their amazing classes!)
